Tripp Design was approached by a client seeking to build a 90' custom sailing yacht. Having recently worked with YYachts and recognizing their technical skills and eye for detail, Bill Tripp suggested speaking with them to see if they would be interested in a custom project. It was a fortuitous meeting for all - our client took delivery of an outstanding custom yacht, and this project paved the way for the future development of the Y9.

This project was also proof positive that the initial praise that the shipyard garnered for the Y7 was not undeserved. The YYachts team worked closely with Tripp Design and Winch Design to make certain that the client received the yacht of his dreams. This raised pilothouse yacht has some notions of a traditional maritime look, combined with a luxurious simplicity that is calming. Flooded with light and featuring a large cockpit for friends and family, this yacht is meant for seamless indoor/outdoor living, offering 360 degree views both in and out.

And true to the YYachts philosophy, this flush deck carbon cruiser racer is easy to handle, with a self-tacking jib and hydraulically operated boom furling.

When shown at the Cannes Boat Show, this yacht gained many accolades and positioned YYachts as a serious player. The following photos speak for themselves and prove that a family's vision, together with the efforts of an experienced builder, interior designer and naval architect/designer, make it possible to fuse elegance and technology .
