THE BOAT - 70' (21M)
The Boat, a 70' (21.3m) Sportfish, is designed for serious offshore sport fishing with speed, good rough water abilities and low rolling characteristics while anchored for canyon fishing.
LOA: 70.0' (21.33m)
Beam: 17.8' (5.43m)
Top Speed: 35 knots
Range @ 25 knots: 900 miles (1450 kilometers)
Builder: Derecktor Shipyards
The Boat, a 70' (21.3m) Sportfish, has a modified deep-V hull shape with a 23-degree amidships dead rise, straight and fine waterlines forward and an aft LCF for powering into a head sea. There is no keel or skeg. Instead, there are twin off-centerboards aft to be lowered fully 90° while at anchor to arrest rolling. These boards can be used down at 30° to increase roll stability while entering a difficult cut in extremem conditions, or raised flush for normal powering.
The boat was conceived as a low tower, open flybridge boat with a large (16') cockpit complete with a chilled brine tank to prevent freezer burn, a fish box, and large icebox. The engine room is large for ease of servicing the big engines and the complex mechanical/electrical services. From the cockpit, the layout leads to the salon/entertainment area, which blends forward into the dinette with the galley opposite. On the upper deck going forward is the office and electronic space with storage opposite. Down forward are three staterooms and two heads.
For the styling of the boat, we took a classic American style and gave it a more aerodynamic shape, resulting in a more fluid look suggestive of her high speeds. An arch forms a low tower.
