SHARLOU - 139' (42M)

Sharlou’s design defines where we feel the big boat market is moving. These high performing super yachts combine the best of both worlds. They are wonderfully comfortable to live aboard, but there is nothing pokey about them. Given that they are great “hotels,” this new generation of sailing yacht far surpasses traditional cruising boats in that their size gives them sheer speed.
The 42.6m custom yacht Sharlou follows in the footsteps of Cindarella IV with a carbon composite hull built by Green Marine, a fit out by Vitters Shipyard and a luxurious interior designed by Rhoades Young. The boat, launched in 2011, is built to MCA while also keeping an emphasis of weight control with the use of Nomex core for the structure and simpler, lighter systems. -- all in view of a racing schedule. Composite rigging, lifting keel and lightweight construction are all part of the now classic set up enjoyed by the vast majority of our cruising boat designs.
Sharlou’s original owners were very involved with the design of the boat from the interior layout to the exterior sightlines, with a strong emphasis on a clean and modern look. The boat is designed for adventure: spear fishing in the Pacific, racing to Hobart, and exploring remote parts of the world. Design objectives focused on the different ways the boat was to be used during month-long stays on board. To this end, the aft cockpit can be transformed into a swimming pool for the kids if sharks patrol the surrounding waters. The main sheet has been placed on an arch spanning the cockpit to keep the deck clear for children. The coamings sweep around the superstructure giving a design base as well as good protection from the environment.
Below decks the sweeping theme is reflected in the layout with curved corridors emanating from the main salon and leading to circular foyers. The aft accommodation will host one owner’s suite, one guest suite, a children’s cabin connecting to a nanny’s quarter. Forward of the main salon a flight of stairs leads to the lower salon, a private office / guest cabin as well as a formal dining room. To add spectacle to the culinary arts a wall of the dining room can be removed to merge the space with the galley. The foreship will be home to six crew sharing three cabins en-suite in professional surrounds.
SHARLOU sleeps up to 10 guests in 5 staterooms, including 1 Master suite, 1 VIP Double stateroom, 2 convertible Double/Twin cabins (one also with Pullman) and 1 Single cabin. She can carry up to 6 crew onboard to ensure the best service for her Guests.
