The optimization work done on High Noon consisted of an IRC-friendly rig. A new spar replaced the old IMS alloy rig; removing the need for runners thus providing a simpler and stiffer platform. Sail areas were re-distributed to rate better and speed up the boat. A new keel was fitted to improve the righting moment and pointing ability. The last modification was to use a fixed bow sprit as a trade off for larger spinnakers. Stephane Leveel, Tripp Design’s head designer on this conversion, stated, “This first IRC event confirms our faith in the new rating rule and demonstrates our good understanding of it."
