CINDERELLA IV - 128' (39M)

Cinderella IV is a modern interpretation of a classic two-house deck layout that the owner observed, as a young boy, sailing down the Clyde in Scotland. The proportions and aesthetics of those boats stayed with him as he went on to build and often race boats throughout his life.

Cinderella IV draws on the common experience of a team that brought the 143’ Mystere to life. Vitters Shipyard, Green Marine, Jens Cornelsen, and Tripp Design were chosen by this experienced owner to create a 128’ sloop that will fulfill his quest for long sailing passages to unseen places.

In our first discussions for his new design, the owner said that along with a salon house, mid cockpit, and aft sailing cockpit (as with his current boat), his ideal sailboat would have a cuddy house for crew watches and navigation, be built in composite, and have great sailing characteristics.

While a two house arrangement seemed quite challenging, we envisioned this idea could be taken aboard a state of the art sailing boat. An idea born of the fast boats of other eras that the owner had idolized perhaps could become modern in form when aligned to a current hull. So by using vertical glass in an elliptical curve in plan form for the front of the houses, the houses are clean and tightly tied to the vertical bow form. The result is new, with vintage foundations.

The challenge of the two houses turned into opportunity as the two houses created a uniquely protected cockpit space between them, and interesting inside/outside spatial relationships with each cockpit. When entering from the main cockpit, into the two level salon, the encircling glass and light give a great sense of space and light, with all around views. The aft cuddy house with its sliding glass door acts as the sailing cockpit annex, great for watches, navigation, and enjoying the sailing.

Cinderella IV is 39 meters in length, built of carbon composite, with a hull capable of offering fast yet comfortable sailing. She is designed to carry high quality technical equipment and a number of unique and interesting innovations without compromise- she has a high standard of comfort and luxury onboard. Cinderella brings together all Vitters Shipyard’s vast technical experience with Green Marine’s composite expertise and will be one of the most high performance light weight sailing yachts of her type. Jens Cornelsen oversaw the build of the boat throughout construction.

The interior design of this blue water cruiser, which is styled by Donald Starkey, focuses on four equally sized, generous cabins, for reasons of both democratic principles and charter, set in the front half of the boat, and the crew and sailing cockpit aft, for guest privacy. The lazarette is fitted out with dinghies, diving equipment, fishing gear, waterskis and wakeboards.

Sailing performance is at the heart of this design and all efforts have been made to ensure a high performance level. Cinderella IV is fitted with a lifting keel for a shallow draft of no more than 3.8 meters, allowing access to many otherwise inaccessible waters and berths, and great stability for comfort, safety, and speed.
